Gigawhite - Natural Skin Lightener from the Swiss Alps

GIGAWHITE is an effective skin lightener under the Trademark GIGAWHITE of Alpaflor, a Swiss cosmetic ingredient manufacturer specializing in plant extracts from the Swiss Alps.

Gigawhite, a blend of 7 medicinal plants (reminds me of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs! How clever!) , produces visible whitening effects within 6-12 weeks of application.

According to official documents from the manufacturer, Gigawhite is a plant-derived, preservative-free skin lightener. It has been shown through in vitro (on human skin culture) assay (series of biochemical tests) and in vivo (on live humans), with full skin-barrier functions in tact (meaning that the skin tested on has “standard” ingredient penetration issues, making the tests harder and reflecting more realistic results), that it is effective as a skin lightener and has significant SKIN WHITENING effects at 5% in reducing age spots and hyperpigmentation.

I came to know of this chemical when working with ETMall, Taiwan’s largest TV retailer and 3rd largest online retailer, formulating their own line of whitening skincare and in development of their spa chains. Our team of chemists, PMs, product developers, beauty-savvy marketing experts and media editorial staff with control of market trends went on an expedition around Europe, visiting leading cosmetic laboratories in Japan, Korea, China, Switzerland, Geneva, and France. After comparing different technologies and ingredients, we chose Gigawhite as the “star” ingredient we wanted to feature in our new skin care product line.

The in vivo and in vitro study results of the lightening effects of Gigawhite are convincing, with significant whitening on pigmented human skin (Test subjects had unstable and slightly overreactive melanin production and age spots) without any skin irritation that is common in potent, effective skin lighteners, and without changes in red values of the skin.

Gigawhite is composed of 7 concentrated plant extracts:

Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract (1% ~5% by FDA code)
Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Extract (1% ~ 5% by FDA code)
Primula Veris (Cowslip) Extract (1% ~ 5% by FDA code)
Alchemilla Vulgaris (Lady’s Mantle) Extract (1% ~ 5% by FDA code)
Veronica Officinalis (Heath Speedwell, Common Speedwell, Common gypsyweed, Paul’s betony) Extract (1-5% by FDA code)
Melissa Officinalis (Lemon Balm) Extract (1%-5% by FDA code)
Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Extract (1%-5% by FDA code)

Water and Glycerin (25% ~ 50% by FDA code)

It is a patent-pending ingredient and thus the details are not given and each ingredient’s medicinal effects range widely from source to source. In general, they’re all healthy and used for centuries in traditional herbal medicine.
